In most cases there is no need to hire a crane or erect scaffolding to install equipment on a facade. From signage to condensers, installation is completed on rope in far less time and without closing the ground.
Unlike facade cleaning, installation is concentrated at a single point. That is exactly why scaffolding or a crane is uneconomical: days of setup for a few hours of work.
Installation work carried out on rope
- Signage and built-up letters
- Advertising panels and tensioned banners
- Air-conditioning condensers, installation and removal
- CCTV cameras and lighting
- Flagpoles, antennas and satellite dishes
- Cable routing and trunking on the facade
Compared with a crane
A boom lift is fast where it can be set up on the ground with nothing in the way. In most Istanbul buildings the ground does not allow it: narrow streets, parked cars, trees and pavement width make setup impossible. A lift is also limited in reach, whereas rope access has no height limit as long as the roof can be rigged.
Checks before installation
The weight and wind load of anything fixed to a facade must be accounted for. Wide elements such as signage and advertising panels generate significant force in wind. Fixings must reach a structural element capable of carrying that load; heavy equipment fixed to cladding alone will eventually tear it away.
Frequently asked questions
Is a crane necessary to install signage on a facade?
No. In most buildings narrow streets, parked cars and pavement width make crane setup impossible. Rope access reaches the position from the roof with no height limit.
How is an AC condenser installed at height?
On rope, using a twin rope system rigged to roof anchors. The fixing must reach a structural element capable of carrying the unit’s weight.
